2 Love Story Scenes that Wrecked Me
I love final scenes that hang with me for days or months….
My hubby and I recently streamed 11.22.63 because of our interest in history and the story’s premise: A high school teacher travels back in time to try to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from killing President Kennedy. Based on the novel by Stephen King, the eight-episode Netflix series was utterly fascinating. Yet it’s the surprising love story subplot I’ll most carry with me.

I want so badly to share all of my observations and even the predictions I made through the episodes. But I’ll give no spoilers. All I will say is the final episode’s final scene left me with fresh, hot, clear pure tears flowing down my face. Had my husband not been there (although even he was choked up), I would’ve let out a full-blown ugly cry.
That brilliant ending immediately brought to mind another series we’d watched months before.
Its title also happens to be a date: 1923. Taylor Sheridan’s spinoffs of his famed Yellowstone series are my favorites that stream on Paramount+. While this show is set during prohibition and finds the Dutton clan trying to save their Montana ranch, there’s one particular story thread I craved.

Young, rugged, handsome Spencer Dutton suffers trauma left from World War I. He meets Alexandra—a modern, outspoken beauty born to a wealthy British family—in Africa, and adventures abound there and beyond. Part of the plot has them separated and struggling to get back to each other. Again, no spoilers, but personally, I believe it’s worth watching the whole darn series just for the haunting final scene. It begins with the turn of a head…. You guys, it totally wrecked me!
