Her Last Flight

I’ve been a fan of Beatriz Williams for years. In fact, I’ve attended at least three of her author events (often where she appears alongside historical fiction novelists Karen White and Lauren Willig). I loved Beatriz’s latest book! Inspired by the life and mysterious disappearance of “aviatrix” Amelia Earhart, this novel captures the spirit of women in early flight. To take to the skies meant freedom. Independence. Adventure. I was equally drawn to the story’s two timelines, including the 1947 thread with protagonist and photographer Janey Everett who’s out to solve a mystery of pilot Sam Mallory who perished long ago. I loved Janey’s voice, the reveals of her painful past, and her determination. This book is special. The author’s own father was a military pilot. And it’s beautifully written. I was hooked on page one!
